Consultation

The purpose of this consultation paper was to present 91¾«Æ·'s assessment of a macro review of the specification for reticulated natural gas in New Zealand (NZS 5442:1999). That review did not identify any major technical issues that suggest there is a need to reassess the appropriateness of NZS 5442:1999. 91¾«Æ· invited submissions from stakeholders as to whether they agree with the 91¾«Æ· assessment or whether there are additional factors that need to be taken into account.

Recommendation

This paper presents 91¾«Æ·'s recommendations relating to the gas standard for reticulated natural gas in New Zealand. The recommendations consider (a) the limits defining NZS 5442:1999 and (b) the current arrangements to enforce the gas specification. These recommendations are the culmination of a review undertaken by an independent consultancy firm and rigorous consultation process by 91¾«Æ·. Core to the recommendation is the conclusion that the current limits on the gas specification do not need to change.
